Monday, Sept. 29 and Tuesday Sept. 30

Because I am up in the Gym managing the Picture Day festivities, I would like you to do the following:

MONDAY:
1. Look at and share your Instagram pic of the week through Iconosquare.
2. Check out this week in pictures: TIME link to the right
3. One student should come up next weeks' Instagram #. That person should email me.
4. I noticed some students weren't able to label their photos in the Google Drive. Do that! Ask others around you if you don't know how.
5. Share your 40 images (compositional techniques) with a friend nearby and get a second opinion on your top two. Offer critiques, praise and suggestions to your friend.

BRING EAR PHONES FOR TOMORROW IF YOU CAN

TUESDAY:
6. Download your "final two" composition pics and open in Photoshop.
7. Check out this video about basic tools of photoshop. It's a great step by step video where you can follow along and learn some techniques about each tool. Although, I'm pretty good with photoshop, this really taught me some new things. You can watch it individually if you have headphones, or as a class.

Finally, PLEASE photograph students and staff around the building participating in spirit week. I would love these pics for yearbook and they might be good for future assignments.

Make sure you have examples of the following:

1. Cropping
2. Balancing elements
3. Background (avoid clutter)
4. Avoid Mergers (just always do this!)
5. Perspective/viewpoint
6. Landscape vs. portrait (show examples of both, shoot something in landscape then flip the camera and shoot it vertically)
7. Framing within frames
8. Leading lines
9. Diagonals
10. Repetition and pattern
11. Symmetry

When finished shooting, upload to google drive and label each pic.

Save your top two in a Final Composition folder (twice).
